Week 1 Our first show went live. Our panel was Jason Matthews, AC Cruz, Melvin Little, Larry Fourmiller. An introduction to Indie Authors should I self-publish or try to get an agent and get signed with a traditional publisher? Week 2 Our topic was formatting, and all things related to e-book formatting and paperback formatting.Panel- Jason Matthews, AC Cruz, Samantha Fury, Amy McGuire, Alana Woods and Melvin Little. Formatting for e books and paperbacks–preparing Word Doc and other files to be ready for uploading to retailers like Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, Smashwords, Create Space and others. Discussion includes common formatting styles, hyperlinks, table of contents, NCX files, images and more.
Week 3 The panel talked about book cover design and options for the Indie cover. Designing book covers for e books and paperbacks–should Indie authors design covers themselves or hire professionals? Options for both methods are discussed by writers with experience. Topics include software for cover design, obtaining images, examples at Amazon, differences between e book and paperback covers, concepts for artwork and more.
Week 4 The panel talks about uploading their books to retailers. Uploading e-books to retailers like Amazon, Smashwords, Barnes & Noble are how Indie Authors sell to Kindle, Nook, iPad and other devices.
